Southern Garrett High School is a public high school in Oakland, Maryland, that houses over 800 students from the Southern Garrett County vicinity. The school mascot is a Ram and the school colors are red and white. Southern boasts a wonderful drama program run by Erin White; a choral program run by Debie Beachy; an active school newspaper (The Acorn) run by Heather Savage; and many academic and extracurricular activities. This school is home to faculty such as Dave Bender, Lisa Bender and Doug Oxford; all state finalists for Maryland Teacher of the Year.
